The Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation
The Prince of Wasles Hospital Foundation is a wonderful example of the power of an individual to change the world. In this case the individual, Leanne Zalapa, while working as a nurse, established the POWHF to promote it’s various heath campaigns and develop new income stream from donations. Fifteen years later Lulu an
d her team have raised over $30 million and are now embarking the latest challenge, a major capital campaign for the new Acute Services Building on the Randwick Campus
Relevant have been retained to provide strategic advice on the new capital campaign. We are also developing a comprehensive philanthropic engagement plan for current and new donors. As Sydney has several capital campaigns under way at the moment here is a real challenge to find effective ways to cut through the general fundraising noise and ensure that the POWHF Campigan secures the support it needs.
CanDo
CanDo is a new mobile app developed by breast cancer survivor Rachael Lonergan that helps people with serious illnesses get assistance with everyday tasks. When Rachael was diagnosed with breast cancer, she had to undergo surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
“Friends and co-workers would ask me what they could do, but I found that awkward and held back from accepting help I really could have used,” Lonergan says. After this experience, she came up with the idea for the CanDo app. “The app helps to eliminate social isolation and allows people to focus on their treatment, reducing anxiety around getting the ‘little things’ done.” Importantly
the app allows people to transform their desire to help into real actions.
Relevant is proud to be involved with CanDo and is focused on maintaining the media profile of CanDo founder Rachael as well as linking in the various not-for-profit organisations who are communicating with patients to ensure that those who would benefit from the free app are able to access CanDo,.
